Carols around the Christmas tree and our Lumiere!

10th December 2015 By nicolle

On Monday 7th December St Michaels primary school along with ourselves invited parents and residents to come along to school at 4pm to sing carols around the village Christmas tree. We would like to say a big thank you to all who came and joined in.

After the carols we invited parents back to school to view our very own Lumiere. Each class had been working very hard to create their own little Lumiere displays. We then all enjoyed mince pies and drinks together.

British Schools Judo Regional Championships

16th November 2015 By nicolle

On Friday 13th November one of our pupils travelled by train to London for the British Schools Judo Regional Championships.

He had four fights and all four opponents came from all around the country. He was only meant to have two fights and two friendlies because of his weight class but ended up having three fights and one friendly. At the end of the competition he stood on the first place position on the podium to receive his gold medal!

Lumiere

11th November 2015 By nicolle

In Thursday afternoon, Alice came into our school from OASES. Alice taught us how to make light using recycled bottles. All we had to do was fill a bottle with water, then cut a hole in a ‘cardboard house’ and put the bottle in the hole. She taught us about the litre of light and we created bottle designs for an artist making Durham Cathedral’s Rose Window out of bottles. This is going to be used in Durham’s Lumiere Festival.

On Friday 6th November our school held an Anti-Bullying Balloon Launch. Each child had their own balloon with their personal anti-bullying message tag attached. We hope to receive responses from different parts of the UK and maybe even further afield!
