In our after school clubs, we recently introduced a new Archery Club for our Y6 pupils allowing them to learn a new skill. We have also had Fencing lessons for Y3/4/5/6 taking place on a Friday afternoon which all looks to be going very well.
Learning the Ukulele
On Fridays our Y1 and Reception pupils are currently having ‘Little Fingers’ music lessons and Y3 and Y2 ukulele lessons. Some children have enjoyed the ukulele lessons so much that they have bought their own ukuleles.
The Durham Climbing Centre
Over the past few weeks our pupils have been taking part in a 4 week block of climbing lessons held at The Durham Climbing Centre. It started with Y6 and Y5 going for 4 weeks then Y4 and Y3 for the next 4 weeks and now the Y2 and Y1 pupils are progressing through their slot. Reception pupils are to follow after Y2 and Y1 have finished their block. Feedback from children has been fantastic with some even taking up climbing at the centre as an out of school hobby
Mother’s Day Lunches
As it is Mother’s Day on the 15th March we have welcomed Mother’s to join us in our dining hall on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday leading up to Mother’s day to enjoy a nice hot lunch with their children. So far lunches have gone extremely well with a lot of Mothers tucking into a delicious meal alongside their children. We hope all Mums who attend one of our Mother’s Day lunches thoroughly enjoy themselves
Houses of Parliament
On February the 4th the School Council visited London for a tour of Parliament and took part in a workshop entitled “Your Voice”. All staff and children who attended thoroughly enjoyed their time and even managed to squeeze in some sightseeing whilst they were there.
Artsmark Award
Arts in school has been a major focus over the last few years. This year all of our hard work has been recognised and I am delighted to inform you that we have achieved the ARTSMARK award.
This is a great achievement for the school.
