Class 3 have been taking part in hockey coaching every Friday this half term. To put their skills into practice, we took two teams, one from year 4 and one from year 5 to Maiden Castle to take part in the Quicksticks Hockey festival. The children played extremely well, losing only 2 of their 8 games. As you can see from the photos, we all had an enjoyable afternoon.
It was incredibly wet and muddy but we survived the School Sports Partnership Cross Country event on Wednesday 7th October! Well done to all of KS2 for your fantastic efforts during the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 races. I was so proud of your behaviour, sense of fun and your resilience. Thank you for supporting and encouraging each other and thank you to all the parents who braved the weather to support our school.
Huge congratulations to Erin for achieving 1st place in the Year 5/6 Girls’ Race and Joshua who was 8th in the Year 5/6 Boys’ Race. Both children have now qualified for the County Finals in March. Well done!
We would like to say a big thank you for all your generous donations at our Harvest Festival. We collected a grand total of 278 cans of food for the Durham Food Bank. This exceeded our 200 Can Challenge by a huge amount. Well done to everyone.
On Friday 25th September we will be holding our Harvest Festival service in church at 9:15am. We will be taking part in a 200 can challenge with the proceeds going to Durham Food Bank. If possible it would be most appreciated if parents could send their children into school with one or two cans of food to help us reach our goal. Parents are welcome to join us in the church for this service but please be aware that the space in church is limited.
On Tuesday 8th September we held a Monarchy themed lunch in our dining hall to celebrate the Queen’s 63 years on the throne. We created a special menu for the day consisting of Royal Roast Pork with Your Majesty Yorkshire Pudding, Regal Roast Potatoes and Viscount Vegetables, or Monarch Macaroni Cheese with Grand Dukes Garlic Bread both with a Crown Jewel Cupcake to finish!
